Want to teach your baby to hold their bottle? Start when they’re beginning to grab and hold objects during play! 🍼 You may notice them hitting or pushing the bottle during feeds—totally normal and part of the learning process. 🤪
To help, open their hands and gently place them around the bottle. Hold their wrists steady so they can practice feeling and controlling the bottle through their fingers and palms. But remember—holding the bottle isn’t a developmental milestone! If you’re happy to keep feeding them yourself, that’s absolutely fine! Most professionals are just checking to see if baby can hold an object at midline, which could be a toy.
