Besides Camineet, there are other towns within the walls that you can visit. The one southwest of Camineet is Parolit, and the one that connects between Parolit and Camineet is the Spaceport. I worry about that later.
There's a cave south of the walls called Medusa's Cave. Here's a map for it (right side):

A lot of dungeon will be pitch-black, so you'll need a Searchlight (or Flash) every time you visit one. These can only be used once, but I eventually learn about an item that gives me unlimited Flash uses.
Every step you take in a dungeon that contains monsters is an RNG chance of encountering said monsters, just like if you were in the overworld. If they come in multiples, then you will see multiple HP gauges to show this. It also means that "one" monster you see on screen will attack multiple times, this will also randomly affect which one your characters target.
Killing monsters yield treasure chests, but they also have an RNG factor of being booby-traped with a spear (hits one character) or a bomb (hits the entire party). You can also choose to just simply not open a treasure chest, but miss out on the Meseta you can get from it.
----------
In Medusa's Cave, there a man trapped in stone. This is Odin, the man Nero wanted Alis to find to be an ally to help her defeat Lassic. Since Odin is trapped in stone, though, you can't do much. So you'll have to let him go for now... I'm basically grinding for more levels and money, here.
Alis will get more Magic over time, such as Bye (attempt to escape from a battle) and Chat (attempt to talk to the enemy).
----------
Another dungeon I visit is the Scion South Cave, which is much far east from the Camineet walls. Here's a map for it:

I actually can't do anything in it yet, because its front door is locked. You need to get a Dungeon Key for it.
A bit west from that cave is the port town of Scion, itself. One of the townsfolk here speak of Odin once traveling toward Medusa's Cave with a talking animal, and that animal has some sort of special medicine on him. Another person before had picked him up and sold him to a trader in Paseo, which is in the desert planet Motavia.
Scion also has a tool shop where its clerk is selling a "Secret Thing" (Secrets). He's very stubborn to do it, but poke him a few times about it and he'll eventually give in and give you a Roadpass. With that Roadpass, you can now get to Palma's Spaceport, and you head there west from Camineet.
----------
In the Shop that's right from the First Food place, you go through an application for a Passport. After hitting "Yes" for applying, just select "No" for the next two legal questions, and then hit "Yes" on the payment to get your Passport.
This will let you finally fly a ship to Motavia's capital Paseo. Compared to the grasslands of Palma, Motavia is a dusty desert planet.
----------
In Paseo, there will be three shops lined right up against each other. The one furthest to the right is where you can finally get that talking animal. At first, the guy will try to sell it to you for 10 billion Mesetas, but you can just turn it down and give him the Laconian Pot, instead.
The talking animal introduces himself as a mystical cat named Myau. He explained to Alis that he was traveling with Odin until he got turned to stone by Medusa. Myau has the medicine to cure him, but his paws can't open the lid.
Myau decided to tag alongside Alis, and get the help of her hands to open that medicine's lid and save Odin!
