Toor Dal - 1 cup (washed and soaked for at least 2 hours)
Cauliflower - one small head
Coconut - 1/4 cup (blended to a smooth paste with 1/2 cup water)
Onion - 1 medium, sliced
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Bottle Masala/Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Tamarind extract (a small ball soaked in 1/2 cup water)
Coriander leaves for garnish
Oil for cooking - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste

For the tempering (optional)
2 - 3 flakes of chopped garlic fried in 1 tbsp ghee
