Описание:
Martian dust storms are storms where strong winds lift very fine, electrostatically charged dust into the thin atmosphere of Mars. They can range from local swirls to planet-wide storms that last weeks and block much of the sunlight.
Impact on astronauts:
Reduced sunlight: This could disrupt solar power and make habitats colder and darker.
Visibility problems: Travel outside would be difficult and risky during big storms.
Equipment damage: Dust can clog joints, seals, air filters, and machinery.
Health risks: Fine dust could be harmful if it gets into habitats or spacesuits.
For these reasons, future Mars missions would need well-sealed habitats, robust air filtration, and backup power systems to ride out major storms safely.
