The ancient city of Pinara was developed due to the overcrowding of the nearby Lycian city of Xanthos. Pinara is high up a long dirt road near the top of a mountain and due to that fact, no tour buses come to the site. The ancient city has been effected by earthquakes through the ages and while isolated it is well worth a visit. On the day I went we were the only people at Pinara, excluding the people who work at the site.
