Lance Corporal Jeremy S. Shock was 22 years old when he was killed in action on November 19, 2006, during combat operations in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province.
A native of Green Springs, Ohio, Jeremy graduated from Clyde High School before attending Tiffin University, where he majored in criminal justice and played tight end on the university’s football team. Known for his leadership and outgoing personality, he made a lasting impact both on the field and on campus.
After completing an internship with the International Criminal Police Organization in the summer of 2005, Jeremy realized many federal careers required military service. Determined to serve and strengthen his path in public service, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 2006.
He served with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines as a machine gunner and armory Marine. He deployed to Iraq in September 2006 and was killed just two months later when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.
He was the beloved son of Duane and Sherry Shock, brother to Zachary and Sara, and husband to Clara Ramirez, whom he married just one month before deploying.
He lived with purpose. He led with heart. And he gave everything.
