This huge mine, consisting of a main shaft (with six associated levels), an inclined shaft, almost a mile of underground workings and numerous surface buildings, first started production in 1920. It was primarily a silver mine, although deposits of gold, zinc, lead and even uranium were taken out as well. The last records I could find of work at the mine were from the early 1980s when more than thirty people were employed at the site. The mine seems to have been abandoned in the following years, coinciding with the steep declines in commodity prices over the 1980s and 1990s.
