Xiuyuan then broke his engagement and entered a Buddhist monastery. After entering the monastery, Xiuyuan diligently followed the precepts and practiced assiduously. While searching for an opportunity, Xiuyuan met his fiancée, Jingxin, who wanted to kidnap him and force him into marriage. Xiuyuan firmly refused and repeatedly escaped, with Jingxin rescuing him from danger on several occasions. The two chased each other to Lingxian Town. Lingxian Town was plagued by monsters, requiring the constant sacrifice of young girls for safety. Xiuyuan and Jingxin joined forces to exorcise the monsters, but this turned out to be a huge conspiracy.
