What is Sicilian Pizza? 🍕

They all are a part of the complicated history of this popular style of pizza.

With the “NY Sicilian Pizza,” you have the puffy and bready dough topped with sauce and cheese.

But in Sicily, if you ask for Sicilian Pizza - they will probably give you what we call Sfincione (or the “Palermo Pizza” at Ben’s). Sweet because of the onion and with a fun texture thanks to the bread crumbs - it’s really special.

But the current popular is Upside Down Sicilian - sauce on top, but also has cheese right under the sauce. This is the pizza made famous at L&B Spumoni Gardens but now it’s pretty much everywhere.
