The first public test build of Buttonwillow “The Circuit” is now live for supporters.

This version is focused on getting the core layout, scale, elevations and driving feel into your hands as early as possible. The surface profile and general flow are representative of the final release, so feedback on driving experience, braking zones and corner behaviour is very welcome at this stage.

Still to do (big list!...)

• Background detail work and environmental pass• Brake markers (these should be done next week so expect an update soon)• Paint line detailing including start / finish, pit speed limits and associated markings• Track surface detail such as rubbered groove, tyre marks and surface variation• Terrain cleanup. The current terrain uses a lower resolution mesh which has captured some unwanted undulations, particularly around marshal posts• Trackside sponsorship and branding

Known issues

• Small hole between the main track and pit exit at the far end of the circuit. You cannot fall through it, but it is recommended to merge back onto the main track slightly earlier to avoid it for now• Asphalt texture can appear slightly repetitive under certain lighting conditionsAlso note: It's a bit full on with HD textures, so I'd like to know if people have performance issues or not. I find it easy to work with high quality textures, then reduce them if needed, over trying to make something blurry from early in development look nicer at a later date.

This build is about validating the fundamentals before I layer in the polish. Once the detailing pass begins, the visual identity and atmosphere of the circuit will step up significantly.
