The Northstar 80-gallon vertical compressor (model 459242) is a commercial style compressor that seems built to last. It's rated for more than 24 cfm at 90 psi with 175 psi max output pressure.
A sight glass gives you a quick view of the oil level. There are replaceable crank journals and wrist pin journal/needle bearings. Even the two-piece connecting rods can be rebuilt.
The Northstar vertical compressor uses an oversized cast iron flywheel with a steel belt guard. You get the pressure gauge and a remote tank drain to keep you from having to reach underneath the tank to fully drain it.
Price is around $2,000.
