Testimony continues in the trial of Kouri Richins, the Utah mother and children’s book author accused of fatally poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, with fentanyl in March 2022.
Prosecutors allege Richins killed her husband for financial gain. The defense argues he may have overdosed and says there is “zero evidence” proving how fentanyl entered his system.
A forensic toxicologist testified Eric had 20,000 nanograms per milliliter of fentanyl in his system — five times a lethal dose — along with other substances.
Richins, who later self-published a children’s grief book titled "Are You with Me?", faces nearly three dozen felony charges, including aggravated murder.
The trial is expected to run through March 26.
