Alerts are one of the key features of Azure Monitor. They allow us to alert on actions within an Azure subscription, whether this is starting a virtual machine, creating a new public IP address, or removing a storage group. In this example, we look at setting up an alert for when a virtual machine is started, and run through all the fields and options that are required. We also take a very quick look at what can be alerted on for virtual machines. Once the alert is set up we test triggering it and look at the resulting emails that come through and what they show.
