This video brings to life historical imagery and descriptions from late 19th century Sydney at a time when the colonial city was enjoying a boom period in architecture, commerce and international recognition. It discusses the transformation of Sydney from a convict colony to a prosperous free society over the course of the 19th century and highlights the celebration and pride felt by the city during the era that it hosted an International Exhibition in a spectacular Garden Palace in 1879.
