If you're unaware, Bleak District Electric is a small, homegrown brand out of the UK, and Phil, the guy at the helm, creates some really unique and quaint noise boxes ranging from gnarly fuzzes to lo-fi glitch effects. Today we explore Tapescape - Magnetic Ambience Generator, Phil's recreation of the darker and frankly more messed up side of tape delay. There's an absolutely beautiful palette of wonky, malfunctioning tape sounds akin to what you'd find in an old tape machine that had spent a few decades in storage, then popped up in a deceased estate sale. It amazes me how many of these types of pedals have been made, yet still someone finds a way to make a device uniquely of their own vision. Enjoy!
