This is book one of the Alabaster Pen universe which is a collection of interconnected dark MM romance books centred around morally corrupt characters, psychological manipulation/torture and messed up emotional dynamics. (Note, white these books are interconnected and all follow different couples, the author recommends reading them in order to avoid spoilers)

The dark romance book series is known for pushing boundaries, exploring trauma bonding, and examining what happens when love, control, and obsession blur into a complicated grey area that's difficult to unpack.

Distorted follows an inmate and his guard. The power dynmaics in this relationship are insanely unever, and even when their relationship starts to lighten, because it is inmate x guard, their romance can be described as dubcon at best.

This story is for readers who seek complex, uncomfortable, psychologically layered character work and are not looking for traditional dark romance arcs or clean resolutions.

Also, the twist is absolutely BANANAS!
