For the fourth episode of the second season of Final Space, Andrew Goodwin and David Johnson collaborated on a cover of the classic Kenny Loggins song "Footloose". Despite being an excellent cover, the full uninterrupted version of the song has never been released. This is mainly due to Warner Bros Discovery's ongoing quest to erase anything Final Space from existence after the show became a tax write-off.
While the full version remains unreleased sadly, I decided to try and remaster this version of the song, while also extending it to normal song length, to make it feel a tad more natural and not have such an abrupt ending.
This remaster was built off of a rip of the 5.1 audio track from the Final Space episode "The Other Side". Thankfully, that allowed me to remove the dialogue track, which thankfully also contained most of the sound effects. The main music track did contain some sound effects, but I was able to cover that up with some of the backing tracks which didn't have the sound effects. I was also able to transplant part of the beginning of the song to near the end to remove the sparkle sound effect noises. Due to this, all of the sound effects have successfully been removed, aside from the beeping at the beginning, but it fits nicely as part of the song and isn't too distracting.
The vocals in the episode sadly were turned down and drowned out by the music in parts for when the characters talk. I used a separation tool to separate the dialogue from the music, and fiddled with the volume to make it match the rest of the vocals for the most part. Some parts were REALLY drowned out, however, so some parts may sound a bit wobbly. Sadly nothing I can do about that.
The song in the episode ends extremely abruptly, after the lyric "Somebody to tell you". Sadly the rest of the lyrics to this cover are lost. To extend it a bit, I've attached a repeat of the song, starting with the earlier version of this verse's followup line "That time's just holding me down". It's pretty seamless thankfully, and I repeat it once more. Finally, I added a fade-out to the end which I feel is pretty natural.
Overall, I think this is a decent effort, and probably the best way to experience this version of the song atm. Enjoy!
