Take a Hike VMware! (Migrate to Proxmox)

Описание: In this video we are going to see how we can finally tell VMware to take a hike and F off! With the easy VMware to Proxmox migration tool, this move is now easier than ever before. Its not flawless, it's full of caveats but hey, at least it works when done right.

So, in order to really tell VMware to take a hike you must first offload all your virtual workloads off VMWare's ESXI hosts on to Proxmox hosts and this is exactly where the Proxmox migration tool comes into play. The Proxmox migration tool is full of caveats but it paves the way to offload virtual machines from VMware to Proxmox in a way that can be managed.

In this video we will see or at least talk about what you should take into account before starting the migration process from VMware to Proxmox and what can or cannot be achieved. For example, in order to migrate a virtual machine, it has to be powered off, meaning, downtime is bound to happen.

Overall the process of migrating from VMware to Proxmox work very well and i didnt encounter any issues but that's only becasue i took all the caveats into consideration and only run the import or migration process after. Overall, it beats not having any tool.

If you are not yet familiar with Proxmox, Proxmox Virtual Environment is a virtualization platform designed for the provisioning of hyper-converged infrastructure. Proxmox allows deployment and management of virtual machines and containers. It is based on a modified Ubuntu LTS kernel and in many cases its almost 1:1 feature-wise compared to VMware ESXI or even VMware vCenter.
