WHY ALL THIS RAIN – POURQUOI CETTE PLUIE – ANDA YELLA (Err-as tili)
I am very happy to announce you our new clip, which is available for you now. I am very grateful that Didine Kati said immediately YES, when I asked him to sing this song with me and from that day on, he guided our project. He is a very experienced musician and producer. This was priceless!
Didine Kati is a professional “Algerian Mandole” player from Kabylie, who studied his instrument in Paris, University of Évry, France. He is also one of the founder of the successful group AMZIK.
Then we decided to work with the director and producer of Radio USSAN, and INFUSEN-Media, Azro Magora - amazigh from Libya, who won already some prices for his short-filmes about violated human rights, amazigh-culture and identity. He studied Cinema at Tripoli University in Libya.Today he lives in exile in Paris.
At least we won the Austrian musician Martin Berauer, who studied electric bass at Anton Bruckner University of Linz and at "Centre des musiques de Didier Lockwood" in Melun, France, to play the bass. He plays already since a long time kabyle-music with Didine in the very successful group AMZIK.
The Algerian Mandole is not very well known in the world. It is a quiet young instrument, constructed for the first time in the1930s. I wanted this instrument in this song to keep something from the kabyle-soul of first version of this song “Anda yella – err-as tilli”, which Idir released in 1993 under the Label of Sony Music. This is why we also kept a refrain in kabyle language. The vocals in kabyle are saying:
“Oh, protect who we love, who is dear to us, grant him shade. All our being, our existence depends on him” ...and this part of the song is a kind of kabyle cultural heritage. The women of some regions are singing this traditional text until today.
This song is a tribute to all amazigh people. We are here to listen to you, we want to make your voice stronger and that your fight for freedom and justice will be known all over the world. One day the sun will rise higher than ever over your olive trees and all the world will talk about your thousands of years old culture and your fight for dignity.
For those who ignored the amazigh (berber people): Imazighen are the indigenous people of North-Africa. North-Africa is amazing and amazigh!
We try to build bridges with our songs. This song goes also out to all the people who are interested in amazighe culture.
Last but not least I want to say thank you to my dear friend N. Osmani for her time and energy to translate this song with me to english.
Thanks to Rachid Bouksim who was supporting us with very creative ideas. Tanemmirt !
