Fafda is a popular Gujarati snack. It is enjoyed with green chutney and salty green chilies. This fried, crispy and crunchy snack is made using besan. It also can be a good option for breakfast or can be a good tea time snack. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me. Do not forget to like, share and subscribe.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup Besan
• 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• Carom seeds / Ajwain
• A pinch of Baking powder
• 2 tsp Oil
• 3 tsp Water
• Oil for frying
Method:
• Take besan in a dish and add turmeric powder, salt, carom seeds, baking powder.
• You can use baking soda or papad khar in place of baking powder.
• Mix everything well together.
• Add oil and rub it well with the mixture.
• When the mixture gets breadcrumbs like texture and it begins to come together like dough add
a little water at a time and knead stiff dough.
• Add little oil and knead it to make nice and smooth.
• Make small balls from the dough.
• Take a cutting board or rolling board whose surface is not smooth and a knife that has flat
edge.
• Take a dough ball and make it smooth.
• Roll it into oval shape and flatten it between your palms.
• Place it on the cutting board and flatten one side of it.
• Using base you your palm flatten the dough ball to give it shape of fafda.
• Keeping the knife flat along the board, lift the fafda from one side till the end.
• Lift the fafda from the board and keep it in a dish.
• Heat up oil in a pan on medium heat.
• Drop fafda in hot oil and fry it well from both sides.
• When bubbles rising from fafda reduce then flip it over and fry well from other side too.
• When fafda is fried well from both sides take them out and transfer into a dish.
• Fafda is all ready.
• You can have fafda with green chutney or with fried green chili.
• You can make around 8-9 fafda from 1 cup besan.
