In this month's Olde Tale we visit Hercules Ellis's version of the Stingy Jack legend, chronicling his wicked choices and how they lead him to a dark and lonely doom.
The majority of the poem is told as written, but I have made some minor adaptations where it fell out of rhyme scheme and or its rhythm seemed to be disrupted. Bad form I know, but I just felt that in these moments it was a little jarring. Apologies to Hercules Ellis for the revisions/modernisations, but some poetic traditions do not fare well after a couple of centuries.
