Delhi was designated a Union Territory on November 1, 1956, and after the 69th amendment to the Constitution in 1991, it was declared a National Capital Territory (NCT). One of India's ancient and significant cities, Delhi is linked to the Pandavas and is situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, bordered by Uttar Pradesh to the east and Haryana to the north, south, and west.
