The Bathudi people, a significant tribal community in Odisha (especially Mayurbhanj), have a vibrant folk tradition where the Changu Dance is central, named after the single-membrane drum (Changu) they play, expressing community spirit and celebrating nature during festivals like Karam and Sohrai, showcasing rhythmic steps, songs, and a deep connection to their culture and faith.

Origin: The Bathudi are believed to have migrated from Bakua in the Similipal hills to their current region of settlement.

The Bathudis' origin is uncertain. However they could be traced back the Panchpaidh (Panchpir) plateau of Mayurbhanj District and simlipal forest range. They migrated to neighbouring areas over time.
