ABOUT MINE-MAJA
Mine-Maja (Gruv-Maja in Swedish) is a creature in the Swedish mythology that guards the mine. If you respected her, she would reward you with ore. If you didn’t, she could cause you and the other miner’s harm ...

She was usually invisible, but if you saw her, she was dressed like an elegantly lady. She could take the form of different animals, and if it wasn't Mine-Maja herself, it could be one of her pets. It was therefore strictly forbidden to kill the animals you encountered in and around the mine.

Miners often sacrificed to Mine-Maja before they went into the mine. Otherwise, she might cause an accident or distort the sight of someone so they couldn't find their way back to a newly found ore location.
