DO NOT SAY "I know" - Learn Effective English

What exactly does the phrase “I know” mean. It is popularly used when we recognize something through information, observation or inquiry.
You’ve probably noticed this phrase before in movies and TV shows or YOU have probably used used the phrase “I KNOW” in one of these three situations:

1. To Show Agreement
2. To Show Understanding of a Problem
3. To Show Empathy

We use language to more than just share information. We use language to connect with those we speak to.

We connect with people when we use the expressions and vocabularies that they are comfortable with.

Try these expressions to show APPRECIATION:

"Absolutely"

"That's for sure"

"Tell me about it"


Try these expressions to show EMPATHY:

"I would have felt the same"

"I understand how you feel"

"I'm sure that must be hard"
