About the Internship Initiative
As part of the One-Month Internship Program at Autism Society West Bengal, Semester V Psychology undergraduate students from Swami Vivekananda University (SVU) in 2025 engaged in immersive learning and hands-on exposure to the field of autism. During this internship, the students created a series of short awareness videos titled “Busting Myths About Autism – An Awareness Project on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).”
These videos aim to challenge long-standing misconceptions, promote acceptance, and present autism through a respectful and informed lens. By translating evidence-based knowledge into accessible content, the interns have taken a meaningful step toward fostering social inclusion and encouraging neuro-affirmative perspectives in society.
This initiative reflects the power of youth engagement in shaping a more compassionate and informed future. Efforts like these not only build professional skill and sensitivity among aspiring psychologists but also contribute to the broader developmental goal of reducing stigma and ensuring dignity and inclusion for autistic individuals and their families. Autism Society West Bengal (ASWB) and Swami Vivekananda University (SVU) have a two-year MoU too.
