Sour Cherry Cake (Meggyes Vajas Piskóta) | Joseph Erdos

Описание: I love sour cherries! Surprisingly, I only discovered their existence in my 20s upon a trip to the Union Square Greenmarket in New York City. So maybe I'm making up for lost time because every summer I eat as much as I can get. And I bake and cook them every which way I can think of, including this sour cherry cake. The recipe is a classic in Hungary. Funnily enough, cherries (cseresznye) and sour cherries (meggy) have two different words in Hungarian. I'd like to think that uniqueness makes them even more revered here, where they're readily available during summer. Bite into this buttery, sugary, tart cake and you'll know what I'm talking about when I say this is one of summer's best cakes!
