Welcome to ‘ Learn English with Deaf talks’.
Today we are going to learn about verbs.
Verbs are important for language. They show us what action is happening.
They give life to sentences by conveying what is happening or being done.
For example, a sentence like "The dog jumps." In this sentence, "jumps" is the verb because it tells us what the dog is doing - jumping!
Which means Verbs show physical movements like running, jumping, or dancing.
Only physical movements? No,
They also show mental activities such as thinking, imagining, etc.
Plus, Verbs can even represent emotional states like loving, hating, or feeling.
Furthermore, verbs can illustrate occurrences or events, describing things that happen at specific times or situations.
Verbs have different forms to match various grammatical elements, including tense past, present, future,
For example, Sometimes verbs describe what is happening right now, like "sing" or "dance."
Other times, verbs tell us about things that have already happened, like "ate" or "played."
And there are verbs that talk about what will happen in the future, like "will run" or "can read."
And the 2nd group is
and voice-active, passive.
Active voice: I was doing my assignment.
In this sentence, "I" is the subject, and "was doing" is the action being performed.
Passive voice: The assignment was being done by me.
In this sentence, the assignment has become the subject, and "was being done" indicates that the assignment is receiving the action.
We will explain it more in the coming videos.
Understanding how to use verbs correctly helps in constructing clear and meaningful sentences.
I hope everyone is clear about verbs. If you have any doubt, comment.
