In this video, we’re going to talk about the 7 early signs of kidney disease.

There are five stages of kidney dysfunction, ranging from mild to severe. At stage 4 and five, there are many dietary restrictions to prevent further damage, including potassium and phosphorus.

Interestingly, potassium has a protective effect on the kidney. However, in later stages of kidney dysfunction or kidney disease, your kidney can no longer process it.


1. Metallic taste or ammonia breath

2. Protein aversion (dislike of protein—especially meat)

3. Nausea/vomiting

4. Difficulty concentrating

5. Itchiness

6. Loss of appetite

7. Swollen face, hands, or feet

If you have any sort of kidney dysfunction, you always want to check the glomerular filtration rate. This is a measurement of how well the kidney filtering.

One of the most common causes of kidney damage is diabetes and prediabetes. Years of chronic consumption of carbohydrates can cause kidney destruction.

If your glucose level rises too much, you can develop glucose toxicity. This causes damage to the kidney’s filtration system.

If you have kidney dysfunction, the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting can help.

The herb astragalus has been shown to decrease creatine, which improves the filtration rate of the kidneys.
