... Final Fantasy has accompanied me since my childhood. Outstanding and formative for me were VIII and IX. The music still brings back memories of the legendary connection between Laguna & Raine respectively Squall & Rinoa. Even though VIII is often criticized for being too realistic, for me it was the harshness of the mercenaries and the depiction of the dichotomy of just blindly following orders that struck the right balance. The music did the rest. IX, on the other hand, reflects the perfect contrast and still lets me sink into kitsch and playfulness.
