Artificial intelligence is expected to be the most impactful technological transformation for the economy in decades, perhaps centuries. Yet economists differ widely in their views on the pace and nature of that change. This WP Intelligence virtual briefing on Oct. 17, 2025, featured two of the leading academics doing research on the economics of AI: Anton Korinek, professor in the Department of Economics and at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia and faculty director, Economics of Transformative AI Initiative, and Ajay Agrawal, professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and co-founder of Intrepid Growth Partners. It also featured Jason Dean, WP Intelligence lead AI & Tech analyst, and was moderated by Luiza Savage, editorial director of WP Intelligence.
