Using GPS or IRIG-B based synchronization, several CMCs can be used together to allow the user to test phasor devices. Synchronizing two or more CMC units, for instance at the ends of a power line, permit the verification of communication-based distance protection schemes, or line differential protection. This end-to-end testing capability is also used by NetSim. The program allows to use the CMC for network simulation.
