In the song, the writer is addressing a girl child named Nomvula who has recently lost her mother. She is now left as the head of the family to take care of her siblings.
She is encouraged to strive on through the difficulty and be a dependable figure who provides for the family at any cost. Nomvula is also forced to set aside her dreams and aspirations to solely focus on her new role as the breadwinner of the family.
What may be a 3-minute song for some may be a reality to others.
