(RAF) Sealands forgotten train tracks

Описание: Join us on a journey back in time to explore the remains of the forgotten railway in Sealand, Deeside, North Wales.

Opened in the 1890s by the Chester and Connah's Quay Railway (later part of the Great Central Railway), this line served as a crucial transport link before becoming a key access point for RAF Sealand. 

Historical Overview
First opened in 1890 as a siding;
the passenger stop, Welsh Road Halt, opened in 1918 to serve RAF Sealand. Renamed Sealand Railway Station in 1931. Served passengers until 1968 and remained open for goods traffic until approximately 1992. A dedicated rail entrance and siding led directly into the RAF base to transport personnel and equipment.
The site originally featured two platforms and several sidings; today, remnants of sleepers, old gate posts, and railway fencing are still visible.

You can still see original platform lamp post and another partially buried in undergrowth with electrical components still attached.
While much of the station is overgrown or built over, parts of the platform foundations are still traceable beneath the current footpath level.

Modern Changes:
The trackbed has been repurposed as part of the Chester Millennium Way, with a bridge now carrying a cycleway over the former line. A significant portion of the former sidings is now covered by a car park for an Amazon warehouse.

Conclusion
