I made this video to show what the average week in a psych ward is, or at least a couple elements of it. You read a lot in books about it being a very scary mental place full of rapists and people with uncontrollable disabilities however, I found it closer to a best western hotel, where they just have very strict rules.
If you’ve never been, this is some thing that you might expect even though I understand that healthcare different differs from city to city and even country to country. If you know me, you know I can find a sense of humor in any situation, so I thought this video would be funny and ironic to me.
I also want to make it clear that even if someone has a diagnosis such as a schizophrenic or schizoaffective disorder, that doesn’t control their whole personality. Is a person with epilepsy constantly seizing 24 seven? Of course not, but there are dormant conditions, and they should be treated so the person can go back to normal instead of being stigmatized.
the psych ward is not like jail, I’ve been there too and it’s incomparable. and they even bring you lemon pudding cups.
