Gavin Braden started to feel sick on January 12, 2022. Two days later, he was admitted to Nationwide Children's Hospital. This healthy football player with no pre-existing conditions was suffering from severe COVID-19 complications. And he was fighting for his life. Further testing showed he developed multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), a complication associated with COVID-19. Gavin would need a ventilator and dialysis.
