My youngest son wanted to do something epic for his birthday. This was his first hike up to The Chimneys. He also told me he was afraid of heights.
Once we were done I talked to him about fear and handling our fears. I told him in life there will be many times you have to do something while being scared.
Bear Grylls said "It is every dads duty to put their child in danger".
I would not put him in this situation if I wasn't confident he could not only handle it but excel. I knew he was ready and he did great.
