Ocean Beach is located at the West end of San Francisco on the edge of the Richmond district. It extends from the Cliff House and Lands End Park down to Fort Funston.
About 100 years ago, there was an amusement park called Playland. It began as a collection of independent rides and attractions, but soon consolidated under a single owner, George Whitney. It grew until the 1950's, then saw a declines over the subsequent decade. It was closed and turned into condos in 1972. Seeing the area now, it's hard to imagine large crowds and any kind of attractions here.
