My thoughts on the recent cease-and-desist letter sent by Blizzard Entertainment's law team to those who run a private World of Warcraft server. This server runs the "vanilla" version of the game (patch 1.12) at its last, which cannot be legally played in any capacity to the terms of use of Blizzard's software. I discuss this issue, give my current position on IP law, and give my explanation for how WoW has hurt its game over the years by introducing certain features.
