Before the great epic Ramayanam was revealed to the world,
Maharishi Valmiki’s own life became the first lesson of transformation.
In this discourse, Bharmaśri Sundarakumar explains the sacred meeting of
Devarishi Narada and Valmiki, when Valmiki was living as a thief in the forest.
Narada Maharishi, seeing the inner purity hidden beneath ignorance,
guides Valmiki with profound compassion.
Through Rama Nāma Upadēśam, Valmiki is led from darkness to light,
from violence to vairāgyam, and from ignorance to supreme wisdom.
By chanting the divine name of Sri Rama,
Valmiki undergoes deep tapas and inner transformation,
eventually attaining the state of a Brahma Rishi.
Recognizing Valmiki’s spiritual maturity, purity, and tapas,
Narada Maharishi declares him the most worthy person
to compose the sacred Ramayanam — not as a mere story,
but as Dharma itself revealed through poetry.

That no one is beyond redemption.

How a true Guru recognizes potential in a disciple.
Why Valmiki alone was chosen to begin the Ramayanam.
