2-year-old boy dies following house fire on Indy's south side

A child has died following a house fire Saturday evening on the south side of Indianapolis.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, shortly after 10 p.m. on Jan. 10, firefighters were called by a neighbor to the 1500 block of Finley Avenue, which is near Raymond Street and Interstate 65 on Indy's south side, on a report of a residence fire.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy fire showing from the front of the house.
Two adults, two children and a dog were already outside when firefighters arrived on scene, but the adults told firefighters there was a child trapped inside on the second floor.
Firefighters immediately entered the house and rescued a 2-year-old male child. IFD says the 2-year-old was given medical attention before being taken to Riley Hospital in critical condition. However, IFD confirmed on Jan. 11 that the child has died.
