Feminism and the Ukrainian Identity

Описание: The word feminism has today become as complex and multi-layered as the differing people and places in the global community who have adopted it. What similarities and differences are there in how Ukrainians over the world have experienced the female identity? How have they interacted with feminism and what can we learn from these experiences?
We invite you to join Divchata and America House Kyiv in a panel discussion centered around our speakers' own stories and experiences of the Ukrainian female identity and feminism in their communities. The event will bring together prominent female leaders with Ukrainian roots – Dora Chomiak, Ola Rondiak, and Kateryna Kazimirova who will share their own experiences and address questions rooted in exploring the intersections of identity and feminism against a global backdrop.
During the event, you will learn more about the ways expressions of womanhood, femininity, and feminism may be different yet similar within the global Ukrainian community.

️ Dora Chomiak, a native New Yorker, has been active in the Ukrainian-American community in the United States since the 1980s. Dora has grown businesses through marketing at brands such as McGraw-Hill, Thomson Reuters, and Baby Jogger. Dora holds an A.B from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. She speaks English, Ukrainian and Russian. Dora has been involved in numerous Razom projects and is also responsible for the Razom Partnership with Hromadske Radio.
️ Kateryna Kazimirova is the IT Project manager, digital strategist, and executive director of digital agency ArtWeb. She is a member of the Advertising Committee within the Ukrainian Internet Association. Kateryna has 5 years of IT managerial experience in such spheres as the development and promotion of retail, high load online media, and alternative energy solutions. Besides the IT-sphere, Kateryna also works as a founding editor of the interview-based online journal Craft Magazine.
️ Ola Rondiak is a Ukrainian-American artist. Ola has been living in Kyiv, Ukraine with her family for over 20 years, creating art inspired by the connection between her Ukrainian heritage, American-Ukrainian identity, and the historical events she’s witnessed since being in Ukraine such as the Orange Revolution in 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. Rondiak’s landmark painted mural in the historic district of Kyiv, Ukraine, is a prominent part of Kyiv’s Street Art explosion.
