If you've purchased hoof boots and are not entirely sure that they are the right size, it's important to try them on without getting them dirty. This way you can return the boots in case they don't fit.
1. Clean and dry the hooves. Make sure that the pastern, leg, hoof wall and sole are all completely clean and dry.
2. Use a clean towel on the ground to prevent scuff marks on the sole, and a clean, thin sock on the horse's foot to keep the boot totally clean.
3. Remove the neoprene gaiter and back strap, and first try on the boot only.
4. Put the sock on the clean foot, then put the boot on and make sure the horse's foot lands on the towel, and stays there whilst you assess the boot fit.
