This is my "newest" organ: The "HOHNER E3 macro sampling" organ.
It dates 1986 and was the first fully digitized organ by HOHNER. No mechanical stops, no potentiometers, ... That way the current selection can be stored as an organ preset. There is space for 6 presets in the organ and 30 on each RAM card.
The E3 offers 7 flute voices, with 2 percussion sounds and a tremolo that changes speed between slow and fast with a spin up/down effect. In addition preset voices and another group of orchestra voices are available.
The sound engine is said to be based on 8-bit sampling technology... which results in quite some quantizing effects. Especially when a preset voice together with an orchestra voice is used the sound engine sometimes can get a little overwhelmed ;-)
The preset voices are not "complete" samples like today, but just short snippes of the basic wave form of a sound.
It's fun to play the organ. Although 100% digital, every function is available on a specific button. And the touch bars work really well.
Unfortunately this was the last organ that was designed and build by HOHNER. Later some rebranded ORLA organs were sold. And HOHNER created the "ADAM" keyboard - quite an interesting machine.
This is part 1 of the organ presentation.
