DIY Wooden Planter with Faux Water Pump | Cedar & 2x4 Build

Описание: In this video, I’ll walk you through how I built a charming wood planter box with a faux water pump out of cedar fence pickets, 2x4s, and some creativity. This rustic piece makes the perfect garden feature or patio accent! I used a CNC machine for some parts, but everything can also be done with basic tools like a jigsaw or bandsaw.

🧰 Materials Used:

*3 Cedar Fence Pickets* (6' long)
*2 2x4 boards* (8' long)
*1 1x8 board* (8' long)
*Titebond III Wood Glue*
*Outdoor Wood Stain (Provincial used)*
*Clear Sealant (2 coats)*
*3" Wood Screws*
*1 3/8" Wood Screws*
*3/8" Wooden Dowel (cut to 5 7/8")*
*Rope (for the handle)*
*Flowers or plants of choice*

✂️ Cut List:

#### 🔸 Cedar Fence Picket Cuts:

*Base Top Boards*

(2) @ 18" × 5.5"
(1) @ 16.5" × 1.5"

*Base Platform*

(1) @ 18" × 12.5" (assembled from glued-up fence picket panels)

*Planter Sides (Octagon)*

(8) Trapezoid pieces, each 4 7/8" (measured along long edge)

*Planter Bottom*

(Panel glue-up of cedar pickets, approx. 14" x 14", cut to shape)

*Handle Boards (for rope handles)*

(2) @ 6 7/8" × 2" with 3/8" center hole

#### 🔸 2x4 Lumber Cuts:

*Base Frame Ends*

(2) @ 12.5"

*Pump Support (Vertical Post)*

(1) @ 21" × 1.5"x1.25"

*Pump Side Posts (Planed to 1.25")*

(2) @ 20.5"

*Pump Handle + Faucet + Mounts*

(4) pieces approx. @ 6" long each
(Pump handle holders planed to 1" thick)

#### 🔸 1x8 Cut:

*Top Circle Plate*

(1) 6" Diameter Circle

💡 Build Highlights:

Routed edges for a smoother look
Used CNC for faucet and handle pieces (but a jigsaw or bandsaw works fine)
Glued and nailed all joints for extra strength
Added a 1/2" drain hole in the planter
Finished with stain and sealant for outdoor durability
Rope added over the faux faucet for added charm
