The phantom blade by Rick Barrett and Jody Sampson got a new set of shoes. The original video describing the blade is here - • Rick Barrett Phantom Project Blade
Basically Rick Barrett and Jody Sampson worked on this blade together some years ago. I think Jody did the hilt mostly but I am not sure how the work was divided. Unfortunately the cross and pommel broke or so I was told. The blade changed hands a few times but never quite had a solid hilt put back on it. Not until Syed got hold of it and gave it some new shoes.
I should also note that I was trying to get some kind of hilt put on the sword and have the original scabbard cut down to fit the new length for under $300. Syed gave me quite a deal on this and I am happy with the work. There are some imperfections but I am shocked with the work that was done for that budget. I feel like I am robbing the man.

If you like the Atrim sword that I showed from Syed's collection, he hinted it might be for sale at some point.

MSRP: I think the phantom was originally around $2500 from Rick but that is speculative on my part. It also has little barring on current value given that it is a different sword now..
This sword is a special kind of cool in my mind. I have my criticisms about the way it moves but from the specs, it does not look outrageous. I am also not a student of the HEMA sword, so it might just feel weird to my hands. The cool factor for me comes from the story this sword has. It was forged through a unique collaboration of two masters. It has had a life of harder use than most fantasy blades. The original hilt was shattered and a new one was made by a blacksmith that has grown in renown (Matt from BKS). The handle was remade again, to fit the a barbarian.. It then went to Mike Kerley (spicy mike forged in fire champ) to get mounted but he did not have the chance to do much. He did grind down the sides of the blade to fit the new sized hilt. Then it went to a Syed, who I am sure will become more well known in time. This blade has lived quite a life and I am sure I don't know the half of it. I am sure someone with a more creative mine that mine could make up some Tolkien esq lore inspired by the blades history.
