Mezmur is the Tigrigna word for Song. Tigrigna is the language spoken in Eritrea and part of Ethiopia. As the protestant faith is currently erupting both in Eritrea and Ethiopia , at the same time Tigrigna Mezmur and Amharic Mezmur are also growing. Both Eritrea and Ethiopia have the Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox sects of Christianity.

Mezmur (song) has been a vital part of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Wengel) in those countries. The people of those countries love Derfi ( worldly song) , it is part of thier every day life. This means music is very important for both Eritrean and Ethiopian people. So, investing in Mezmur is a great strategy to reach those nations with The Gospel.

Both modern Eritrean Mezmur and Ethiopian Mezmur or Tigrigna Mezmur and Amharic Mezmur have a history starting around 1900. But the older Orthodox Mezmur goes back many centuries. And they are the base for today's Tigrigna and Amharic Mezmur. Starting in 1950's using the global developments in music instruments and technology , both Tigrigna and Amharigna Mezmur songs have become modernized, since then a good number of Mezmur have been published both in Tigrigna and Amharigna. Though Orthodox use the traditional old instruments , both Catholic and Protestant singers use modern music instruments and styles to propagate thier message.
