Shillong NEC Meeting Sees Unified Push for Northeast Vision 2047

Описание: SHILLONG: In a strong show of regional unity, Governors, Chief Ministers and senior policymakers from all eight Northeastern states came together at the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, endorsing the ambitious North East Vision 2047 roadmap. The plan aims to transform the region into a major hub for economic growth, connectivity, innovation, tourism and sustainable development by the centenary year of India's Independence. Discussions focused on key sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, investment promotion, tourism, sports, and self-reliance in food production.

The high-level meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister and NEC Chairman Amit Shah, also reviewed outcomes of the North East Investment Summit and sector-specific task forces. With all eight Northeastern states participating, leaders emphasized greater interstate cooperation and faster execution of development projects. Officials described Vision 2047 as a long-term blueprint to position the Northeast as one of India's fastest-growing regions, powered by improved connectivity, entrepreneurship, cultural strengths and strategic investments.
