1934 Austin 7 ‘RP’ Saloon
Originally supplied in Cardiff, this delightful 1934 Austin 7 retains its correct registration number and presents in very smart order, finished in its original blue and black colour scheme with blue interior trim.
The ‘RP’ Series was the final iteration of the Seven saloons to feature the iconic exposed radiator, just before the introduction of the ‘ARQ’ Ruby in late 1934, which featured a cowled radiator and enclosed spare wheel - making this model especially sought after by Austin enthusiasts.
This particular example comes with an intriguing backstory - in 1982, it was offered as a competition prize by Practical Classics magazine, and was won by an engineer who cherished and maintained the car for over four decades. He carried out a major restoration, completed approximately 12 years ago. A photographic record of the work is included.
Notable mechanical features include:
4-speed gearbox with synchromesh on 3rd and top
Semi-Girling brakes – a welcome upgrade
Automatic advance/retard distributor for improved drivability
The history file includes:
• A copy of the Practical Classics issue featuring the car
• Various insurance valuations
• Maintenance bills
• The original RF60 Buff Log Book dating back to 1952
A charming and mechanically enhanced example of this ever-popular pre-war Austin, with a unique story and impressive provenance.
Viewing is warmly encouraged.
