Did you know that standing up out of your chair is thought to be one of the most demanding activities we do in our day to day life? It requires work from the muscles and joints from our hips, knees, and ankles.
If you are having some difficulties standing up out of your chair, couch or toilet, check out these tips to help you be more successful:
☑️ Sit on a cushion! Standing up from a lower surface is more challenging.
☑️ Shift your bum towards to edge of the chair before you stand up
☑️ Place your feet flat on the ground, underneath or slightly behind your knees
☑️ Lean forward, “ nose over toes”, before straightening your knees to stand up!
☑️ Strengthen your leg muscles by performing the “sit to stand” exercise daily!
